My daughter,
granddaughter, and I went to the movies last night. We planned to see
McFarland, which stars Kevin Costner as a California high school track coach.
It's supposed to be heartwarming, and sounded like a pleasant movie experience.
But when I checked
online for the showtime, I found the theater had dropped it. Run All Night
didn't exactly look like our usual light entertainment, but its start time
worked for us.
This is one
intense movie. A manhunt with non-stop action. Lots of violence. The three
of us spent the entire time in a state of unremitting tension. That doesn't
sound pleasant at all, but the movie has some great things going for it, Liam
Neeson for one. He manages to create a sympathetic and downright heroic hit
man. Ed Harris also does a fine job. His presence reminded me of another
dark movie I liked years ago: A History of Violence. But it is probably the
complex relationship between Neeson's character and his son that had us saying
at the end, "That was a really good movie."

It might be to intense for little old me. I haven't been to a movie since I took my granddaughter to see Monsters INC. lol...

I can't tolerate scary suspense, so I wasn't sure how I'd do on this one. I figured if necessary, I can always close my eyes. But I didn't close my eyes even once. We cringed a lot though. :-)
I am a huge Liam Neeson fan (and was also a big fan of A History of Violence), so have added this to my list of movies to see.
I saw A History of Violence in the theater, and bought the DVD for my son when it came out. When he heard the title, he thought I was giving him a documentary about violence in the media. He was not thrilled. lol
Thanks - that sounds like something I'd like. I do like Liam Neeson too. I just recently rented a movie with him in it that was not bad - Non-Stop. I still haven't seen A History of Violence. Is Viggo the bad guy in that?

I like Liam too, but I've grown leery of violence, which these days tends to stay with me longer than it should.
I don't take violence in stride either, Lali (I did lots of twitching), but it wasn't what stayed with me, fortunately.
