I spent a day there last week with my daughter Suzanne and her family. Pictures speak louder than words. And if you click on one, the pictures speak even louder.

I planted Sweet Rocket (hesperis) 25 years ago, and it has planted itself every year since. It is classified as an invasive plant, and thus shunned by responsible gardeners. I love it.

Great photos! Some of the creatures have neat habitats. I read a book once that was partly set at the Bronx Zoo - it's really an interesting place.
What's the story of the photo of the camel? Did you go for a camel ride?
Thanks for the card - cute little bug creatures :)
You're welcome! I thought they were cute too.
I didn't go for a camel ride, but the under-25 crowd did. I was standing there, waiting to take a picture of my granddaughter, when I snapped one of the camels and his handler.
Do you remember the name of the book?
It was long ago, but I think it was this science fiction book .... http://www.amazon.com/Vespers-Jeff-Rovin/dp/0375404724
The part at the zoo was about the bats that lived there. It made me want to read more about the zoo.
I did ride on a camel myself at some theme park once.
Thanks, Crystal! I love mysteries, but I may pass on this one because I don't think I'd react well to a story in which bats are the villains. I love bats! (Although I love them best when they stay out of my house.)
These are fantastic. Did you take that camel one for me? I've been told there are camel rides at the Bronx Zoo.
Ah, I guess they do. I should have read the comments first!
I felt a little sorry for the camels, spending their days walking around a small ring, led by a handler, with strangers on their backs. Judging from some of the expressions, often terrified strangers. Felt a little sorry for the handlers too.
Of course, one could say that about all the animals in a zoo, but this zoo is certainly better than many of them.
I remember that book as not being very good anyway but I liked the part about the zoo.
The place I got a camel ride (long ago) was at a kind of theme park that wasn't as nice as the Bronx Zoo. They had elephant rides too. I did feel sorry for the animals.
