I planted Sweet Rocket (hesperis) 25 years ago, and it has planted itself every year since. It is classified as an invasive plant, and thus shunned by responsible gardeners. I love it.

Oops, where did the poem go?
It went to enter a contest. Assuming it doesn't win (a reasonable assumption), it will be back.

"Look, I tell them, it’s a long drop; you can’t just jump feet first. You have to use your whole body."
thank you for sharing this poem, Susan.
i haven't forgotten (far from it)that i owe you a letter. i can't promise that it'll be in your mailbox by daybreak, but... i'm off to give it a shot.

I am completely blown away by this poem. Thank you. Fantastic.
I'm sure you have, many times.
Wonderful.
Wow, that was very vivid. Was it really a dream?
Yes, it was really a dream. I changed nothing. I wrote it in 2002.
Thank you, everyone. I brought this poem to a poetry reading on Sunday, and the response it generated moved me to post it here.
